Ometria is now a carbon neutral company

We are delighted to announce that Ometria is now a carbon-neutral company, as verified by Positive Planet.

One of our core values as a business is that ‘we make it awesome to be here’, and this extends to our planet. Our responsibility to our employees, clients, and earth is to maximize the positive impact we can have on each other while minimizing the negative. While this gesture is not our long-term answer, it’s a critical step toward protecting our planet and the long-term experience of living on it.

After an in-depth process to identify our carbon footprint with Positive Planet, we are offsetting our footprint through projects in Malawi, El Salvador, Chile, Mexico and Indonesia. In addition to supporting these projects, we have also supported the planting of 6,090 trees and the collection and recycling of 60,900 plastic bottles from the ocean. The tree planting and plastic collection activities will happen over the course of this year. 

Digital Marketing has an invisible impact on the environment, with over-messaging and batch and blast marketing creating an enormous environmental footprint of largely ignored communications. This practice isn’t good for the environment, but it’s also detrimental to the customer relationship. We know that targeted, highly personalized marketing experiences are far more effective at driving long-term relationships with consumers than mass messaging tactics.

We already work with retailers to provide the insights and opportunities needed to create meaningful marketing experiences that their customers love, and move away from batch and blast marketing. Now our clients can also be confident in the knowledge that the impact of all of the marketing that they do with Ometria is carbon neutral, and has been offset. 

This Earth Day is an opportunity for everyone to review all of their bad habits. Marketing is no different. As an industry, we need to break out of the mold of blasting our customers with comms that clog inboxes or phones and pollute the planet in a lose-lose situation for both sides. At Ometria, we want to help retailers empty this digital landfill. The industry needs to start being intentional about all marketing while developing sustainable practices.
